Steam Fry.....😜

Steam fry?? or should it be called stir steam? Call it what you like but its a simple quick dinner or lunch, throw in it what you desire...

I love a steam fry a name i came up with on a takeaway night a few months ago. They had takeaway pizza and i had steam fry, basically water instead of oil, for the most part. i do use a few teaspoons of oil to brown whatever meat I'm using in this case its chicken.

whatever you want to call it, it fast to prepare, fast to cook and Versatile, eaten with noodles or rice or simply on its own.

With such busy lives, with kids at school and work and after school activities time isn't something we have a lot off. I certainly don't. I see parents everyday looking in the fridges for ...... yes what to do for dinner. Its a question we ask ourselves everyday. No sooner have we cooked dinner for one day we start asking hmmmm now what will i cook tomorrow???? 😐🙄🙄. Pizza cos it quick, just an oven job? or a pre made meal, just a microwave job. These options are great and it's great to have them but if you have a larger family its going to be costly. Whats the average price of a pizza these days? €4.00 upwards, ready cooked meals €5.00 plus. Then there are the sides with the pizza, in this house its always garlic bread, in yours it might be chips and you would be surprised by the cost of chips too !!!. So lets say for example a family of say two adults and 2 grown kids (not a toddler) , one pizza wouldn't be enough so 2-3 perhaps then garlic bread or chips, Now you have spent €20 at the least on one nights dinner.

Then those picky eaters huh one will eat everything the other is a vegan or doesn't like chicken or wont eat certain veggies, I am blessed with my lil bean, he will eat anything just about......

There are so many quick and easy dinners that doesn't cost the world. Here is one of mine.

You will need...

1 chicken fillet (I would say 1 per person for a dinner)

Peppers. (i used enough for one but 3 would be plenty for a dinner)

1/2 red onion (2 plenty for a dinner or one red and one white choice is yours)

Mushrooms (1 packet should be enough, i used three)

Spinach (spinach pretty much cooks away to nothing so a few handful's)

You can also add in spring onions, baby corn, sliced carrots, sugar snap peas, baby broccoli or normal broccoli, The list could go on......

Sooo i will get on with how i cooked mine.

  1. First i added two teaspoons of oil, I used olive oil but whatever you have don't be going out buying it just cos I've used it.

slice chicken fillet into thin strips it will cook faster, its the same for if you were using beef.

Gently cook for a few minutes,

add in onions, peppers add a small bit of water at this stage, just a splash, (yea i know im not accurate, no chef here 😜) cook for a few minutes only. Add in the mushrooms.

Then add the sauce of your choice, I used chow mien cos its what i had left in the cupboard from my last shop at #aldieverydayamazing

I added chilli paste cos if you know me i like spicy đŸŒ¶đŸŒ¶đŸŒ¶ i have a tube of it also from aldi.

I usually put fresh chillies but i just didnt have any left. Chilli seeds are also an option and can be added after to avoid the kids screaming and running for waterđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

Adding a lil water before you add spinach,

Let it all come together, I add the noodles at the end they were add to wok noodles so no pre cooking.

and serve .....

For dinner or for lunch or left overs for the next days lunch.

Whats your fav stir fry? (steam fry or stir steamđŸ™„đŸ˜đŸ€Ł)
